Manash Ranjan Nayak

Manash Ranjan Nayak is a Project Research Assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur with an academic background in Mathematics and Data Science and a growing focus on Artificial Intelligence and intelligent software systems. He completed his M.Sc (opens in a new tab). in Data Science from NIST University, Berhampur and B.Sc (opens in a new tab). in Mathematics from Berhampur University and building a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning, statistics, machine learning, and computational methods.

His interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, multimodal learning, document intelligence, and software engineering. He is particularly interested in understanding AI systems from first principles and exploring how research ideas can be translated into practical, scalable applications. His work involves thinking across the complete technology stack, from data and AI models to APIs, databases, backend infrastructure, and user-facing applications.

Manash is also interested in developing human-centered AI solutions that make advanced technology more accessible to users with different levels of digital and technical literacy. He is especially motivated by applications that address real-world challenges faced by communities and traditional sectors, including artisans and other underserved user groups.
