Kumarjit Ray

Kumarjit Ray is a Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where he is working under the supervision of Prof. Sudip Misra in the Smart Wireless Applications and Networking (SWAN) Laboratory. He received his M.Tech (opens in a new tab). in Computer Science and Engineering from Tezpur University and his B.Tech (opens in a new tab). in Information Technology from the Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar.

His research interests include Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Internet of Things (IoT), edge–fog–cloud computing, Digital Twins, and Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWAN), particularly LoRa. His research work focuses on intelligent and programmable networked systems, service provisioning, fog and edge computing, Internet of Medical Things, network security, and resource-aware computing. He has contributed to research publications presented at prominent international IEEE conferences, including IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC Workshops, and IEEE INFOCOM Workshops, and has also contributed to multiple filed Indian patents and a software copyright.

Kumarjit has substantial teaching experience as an Institute Teaching Assistant at IIT Kharagpur and Tezpur University, in addition to serving as an NPTEL Teaching Assistant. He has also worked as an instructor for several short-term and hands-on courses covering Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics at IIT Kharagpur.

Beyond research and teaching, he is actively involved in mentoring undergraduate students, NPTEL learners, and research interns. He has served as a reviewer for journals and conferences, including Scientific Reports and the International Journal of Communication Systems. He is also an active IEEE volunteer and currently serves as Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter at IIT Kharagpur.
